Wide Himalayan wooden plate, a feast-day tradition reborn
This larger Wooden Plate â wide and generous like the open palms of a Monpa elder sharing food with guests â is rooted in the communal feasting culture of the Eastern Himalayas. During Losar (Tibetan New Year) and Torgya festivals in Tawang, food was served on broad wooden platters to entire families seated in circles, symbolizing unity and the cosmic wheel of dharma. Crafted in a wider format than its smaller counterpart, this plate is ideal as a modern serving board, cheese platter, or wall-mounted tribal decor.
